Due to the cost of living crisis, Prosper Learning Trust has decided to continue providing a free school meal for every pupil, each day that they are in school. This means that each pupil can receive a school dinner every day, regardless of their free school meal eligibility.

We would still encourage any families who are eligible for free school meals to apply, as this ensures that the school receives the right level of funding from the government. It also means that in school holidays, if supermarket vouchers are provided, then you will receive these.

Your child may be eligible for free school meals if you receive any of the following:

  • Income Support
  • Income-based Jobseeker's Allowance
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • The guaranteed element of Pension Credit
  • Child Tax Credit (provided you're not also entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual gross income of no more than £16,190)
  • Working Tax Credit run-on - paid for 4 weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit
  • Universal Credit - your household income must be less than £7,400 a year (after tax and not including any benefits you get)
  • Children who get paid these benefits directly, instead of through a parent or guardian, can also get free school meals

If your child is eligible for and is getting free school meals at any time before 31st March 2025, they'll remain eligible until this date. Currently, the Prosper Learning Trust free school meals initiative will run until the end of the Autumn Term.
