ICT at Mary Astell provides pupils with a bespoke curriculum encompassing a broad range of skills, knowledge and understanding in an ever evolving digital world. We understand the role ICT plays in the lives of our young people and we equip them with the tools to use technology safely, appropriately and securely in a supportive, motivating and secure environment.

By exposing pupils to real-world problems and physical IT systems, they gain practical insights into the application of technology. Pupils also engage in personal creative projects that integrate multiple applications, fostering creativity and problem-solving. Additionally, they will develop an understanding of simple algorithms to enhance their computational thinking.

Bespoke learning plans are embedded throughout the delivery to promote independency, motivation and offer a clear success guide to the progress of each pupil. This allows decisions about pupils’ individual progress to be discussed and reviewed whilst identifying and understanding gaps in learning.

Aspirational in nature, our approach establishes connections between various disciplines, including Mathematics, Science, and Design Technology, while also highlighting the role of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in the workplace, thereby promoting resilience and a comprehensive understanding of its practical applications in industrial contexts.
