SFX Comes to Mary Astell!

Pupils in the InReach program took part in a professional special effects makeup workshop as part of our Cultural Match program in partnership with the Tyne and Wear Archives. Pupils will get the opportunity to try different forms of art in the hope of broadening their career prospects and allowing them to experience new cultural opportunities.

The students took part in a discussion around special effects makeup and spoke with artist Wayne Thompson about the work he has done within the industry. Wayne showed the students an example of some of the special effects work he does, the students also took a patch test to allow them to experiment with the makeup in the next workshop. The students engaged well with the workshops and enjoyed seeing the practical props.

In the next workshop, the young people will be able to practice special effects makeup on each other!
