Pupils have been busy preparing for their Duke of Edinburgh Award expedition by practising their cooking skills using camping stoves. During the recent session, pupils learnt how to safely set up, light, and cook with portable stoves, an essential skill for their upcoming adventure. The session allowed them to try out different recipes they might use on their expedition, including simple meals that are easy to make while outdoors.

All pupils successfully operated the stoves and cooked their meals, demonstrating great teamwork and enthusiasm throughout the session. A highlight for many was making loaded hot chocolates topped with marshmallows, whipped cream, and chocolate shavings. This sweet treat was the perfect reward after their hard work and added an element of fun to the experience. The practice session not only helped pupils build their confidence in outdoor cooking but also reinforced the importance of planning meals, managing time, and working efficiently as a team.

With their cooking skills now well-rehearsed, pupils are looking forward to using them during their expedition, feeling more prepared and excited for the challenges ahead. Overall, it was a successful and enjoyable session that brought everyone one step closer to achieving their Duke of Edinburgh Award.
