Students at Mary Astell Academy delve into horror literature through the study of Chris Priestley’s ‘Uncle Montague’s Tales of Terror’. They have demonstrated insightful analysis of the book’s artwork, interpreting its themes and stories and the feelings of the characters, as well as linguistic analysis of similes and a variety of language features. The pupils are enthusiastic about diving into the chilling short stories in further depth and to demonstrate their own creative writing skills through the conjuring of their own terrifying tales.
